SolarForward gives working solar panels a second life by moving them from upgrades and storage to nonprofits and community organizations that can put them back to work.
THE ORIGIN
I GREW UP AROUND SOLAR, SO I KEPT SEEING THE SAME PROBLEM.
I grew up around solar energy because my parents run a solar company in the Philippines. Solaric is almost exactly the same age as I am, so solar panels, rooftops and installations have always been part of my life.
As customers began upgrading their systems, I kept seeing perfectly good solar panels come down from roofs and get stuffed into storage, where they would sit collecting dust and cobwebs.
They still worked, and some still had decades of useful life left. But because newer panels had become much more powerful and affordable, there wasn’t much of a market for the old ones.
At the same time, I would see comments and messages on Solaric’s Facebook page from orphanages, foundations and other nonprofit organizations asking if anyone could donate solar panels to them.

THAT MADE ME WONDER
We already had working panels sitting around that nobody knew what to do with, and organizations were literally asking for them. Why weren’t we connecting the two?

That question became SolarForward. I was 11 years old.

The first opportunity came through Green Earth Heritage Foundation, an organization supporting farming communities through livelihood programs and community education. We took working solar equipment that could have ended up sitting unused and helped give it a second life at Green Earth.

We help collect the equipment, assess whether it can still be safely used, find an appropriate recipient, and work with technical and corporate partners to get the system installed. The panels may be donated, but an installation still needs mounting hardware, electrical equipment, logistics and professional labor. That’s where our partners come in.

WHY I CALL IT SOLARFORWARD
The panels aren’t finished. They just finished their first job.

To me, this isn’t really about recycling. SolarForward moves panels forward to the next job: years powering one family’s home, then many more years lowering the electricity bill of an orphanage, school or nonprofit.

I want SolarForward to give solar owners a clear and meaningful option for working equipment they no longer need. Instead of wondering what will happen to their old panels or inverters, they can pass them on to a nonprofit or community organization that can use them to lower its electricity costs. That way, useful equipment keeps working and the savings can support things like food, classrooms, medicine, livelihood programs and other operating needs.
